SPENCER Weir-Daley has told strike partner Marc Newsham he believes he can finish the season as the club’s leading scorer.
The striker opened his account on his return to the club with a goal in the 4-2 FA Trophy defeat at Dartford.
And with 15 matches left to go, Weir-Daley has one goal to his name, nine behind current top scorer Newsham.
With a smile on his face, Weir-Daley said: “Anything’s possible. Newsham’s getting the goals in and that’s good for Boston.
“I already know he’ll be looking forward to linking up again.
“We’ll just see what happens.”
Weir-Daley finished last season as the club’s leading scorer with 14 goals.
Newsham’s 29 finishes the previous season saw him claim that honour, with Weir-Daley netting 21 times.
Altogether, the duo have scored 80 goals for the Pilgrims in two-and-a-half seasons, no wonder boss Lee Canoville is glad to have both strikers back in the fold.
“Having Spencer back is a big positive for us and we’re looking forward to seeing what they can do,” he said.
