Leading scorer Dayle Southwell and defender Dylan McEvoy have both been ruled out of Boston United’s Boxing Day clash at Lowestoft Town due to injury.

Southwell - who scored his 15th of the season as the Pilgrims beat Stockport County last week - is suffering from the recurrence of a foot injury and may be ruled out of action until the end of January.

McEvoy, meanwhile, is believed to have picked up a calf strain while training with Sunderland.

That means Jordan Richards will slip back into the left back position made vacant by McEvoy, with Ryan Robbins joining Mark Jones in attack.

The Pilgrims are looking to make it four consecutive wins in the National League North, following victories against Alfreton, Solihull and Stockport.

However, if Dennis Greene is to reach his festive target of 12 points from the two clashes against Lowestoft, plus home matches against County and Gainsborough Trinity, then he will have to lead his side to their first ever three points at Crown Meadow.

United have only ever played here twice before, an FA Cup defeat in 2009 plus the 1-1 draw here on New Year’s Day, which saw Rene Steer sent off for kicking out during a melee.
