Graham Drury is backing James Reed to be a huge hit at Boston United.
Although the manager has sent his 18-year-old midfielder out on loan to UCL Premier Boston Town, he says he has done so to help him ‘toughen up’.
He believes it will be a learning curve that will only make Reed - who has made 18 appearances for the Pilgrims - a better player.
Drury said: “Reedy needs game time.
“He’s been constantly in my ear about wanting to play.
“He’ll go out and get that and when he comes back I’m sure he’ll get some minutes for Boston.
“I rate him really highly.
“I think he’ll be a top player for this club and beyond.
“He can’t progress if he’s sitting on the bench.
“He needs to go out there play men’s football and toughen up a little.
“It’s a tough world, football, but I think he’ll do really well.”
