Matt Hocking believes that Boston United have got themselves a great player in Jason Field.
The Boston Town manager knows all about the demands on home-town talent, having played at the heart of the Pilgrims’ defence in their Football League years.
But he has every confidence that left back Field - who will switch back from Tattershall Road to York Street in time for tomorrow’s Blue Square Bet North clash at Harrogate Town - will win the amber and blacks fans over.
He told The Standard: “Jason’s more than good enough to play at the level.
“We’ll miss him, he’s been our best player.
“He’s not afraid of anything. He’ll go in for every challenge, he’s big and strong and likes to get forward.
“He’s scored some great goals and puts some good crosses in as well.”
Field began the season at York Street, but moved to Town in search of match action.
Hocking believes that regular football has changed Field’s game for the better.
He added: “He’s kept on learning and improving with every game.
“He’s got a lot stronger.
“We’ve got to start looking for a replacement left back now, but it’s good to see him move on.
“We want to keep hold of our more consistent players, but we should also be a club where young lads can learn the game before they step up.”
