Boston United players have reacted with surprise following the axeing of manager Jason Lee.
The Pilgrims boss was sacked this afternoon after seeing his side go six matches without a win.
But striker Mark Jones - who Lee signed at the start of the season - has taken to Twitter to show his shock.
He wrote: “Everyone has a bad spell. Look at the teams we’ve scalped this season.”
And indeed, Jones has a point.
Promotion-chasing Halifax and Chester have both been beaten by United this campaign, while Lee led the club to their first-ever win at Stalybridge Celtic.
But recent poor form and a dip in attandances has seen chairman David Newton decide to ring the changes.
However, winger Jason Stokes added: “Well that was a surprise. Agree with @jonathewhale (Jones) every manager has a bad spell.”
