MARC Newsham hailed Boston United’s resolve in a ‘crazy game’.

The Pilgrims earned three vital Blue Square Bet North points on Saturday with a 5-3 victory at Workington.

Adam Boyes had granted Boston a 2-0 lead, but goals from Nic Rogan and Anthony Wright had seen the hosts level before the break.

David Hewson then stunned the Pilgrims as he put Workington in front.

But a mad final 12 minutes saw Boston score three times.

Newsham bagged a brace - one from the spot - while Ryan Semple put the result beyond doubt in the final moments.

“It was a bit of a crazy game,” said Newsham.

“It’s a tough place to come.

“We’re one of the fittest teams in the league and I knew we were going to keep going and get chances.”
