Marc Newsham will return to action for Boston United this evening.

The striker has not played for the first team since making a substitute appearance in the goalless draw at Altrincham in April.

But after a slow rehabilitation process following a knee injury, the forward - who has netted 107 times in 219 matches for the Pilgrims - will play 45 minutes for Boston United’s under 21s this evening.

Although aged 27, Newsham is eligible to play in the fixture against a youthful Mansfield Town side as it it a friendly contest.

Pilgrims Sam Vince, Conor Marshall, Michael Hollingsworth, Jack Barlow, Niall Doran and David Fallah are among the other first-team squad members expected to turn out this evening.

After making his first-team debut for United on Saturday, Barlow can’t wait for the contest.

He said: “I’m looking forward to it.

“I need match fitness, so I’d rather be playing than training.”

Kick off at the Jakemans Stadium will be at 7.30pm.
