Nowhere to Hyde! Alan White says Boston United don’t fear league leaders

ALAN White has warned Blue Square Bet North leaders Hyde United that they are in for a ‘horrible’ Saturday.

The table toppers will arrive at York Street, facing a Boston United side still smarting after their 1-0 defeat at Solihull last weekend.

And White says his teammates will do whatever they can to take the division’s top scalp.

“Sometimes you’ve got to be nasty and horrible in a game,” he told The Standard.

“We weren’t like that (at Solihull) but we’ll get that back.

“We’ve got a bunch of lads that won’t be affected by the last result.

“We’ll look at Hyde, who are top, and think that’s a game we’re up for and we want to win.

“You want to win every game, but against the teams at the top, sometimes it just clicks.”

United now face the BSBN’s top three sides in consecutive league contests.

They host Hyde on Saturday (KO 3pm) before the following weekend’s visit to Lincolnshire rivals Gainsborough Trinity, who are currently third.

Completing the hat-trick will be the December 3 visit to second-placed Stalybridge Celtic.

But instead of being worried by the fixture list, White is up for the challenge – stating it is the Pilgrims’ chance to show their own title ambitions.

“We’re confident we can be up there at the end of the season,” he added.

“The next three league games are massive. Not because of who we are playing but because we can’t afford to let the gap at the top get any better.

“We don’t want to lose touch, we want to be getting in and around there by Christmas and then pushing on.

“We won’t be thinking about Hyde on Saturday, we’ll be thinking about ourselves.”
