Players back under fire Boston United boss Jason Lee

PILGRIMS players Tom Ward and Joe French have come to the defence of manager Jason Lee after Boston United slipped to a fourth successive defeat last night.

Lee’s charges suffered a 4-2 defeat at the hands of Oxford City yesterday, a result which follows losses to Hinckley United, Bishop’s Stortford and Workington.

Boston lie ninth in the Blue Square Bet North, but have played a game more than all but Oxford.

The poor run of form since back-to-back victories in the first two games of the season has put the spotlight on the former Nottingham Forest striker’s future in the York Street dugout.

But Lee has received support from two of his squad - who took to social networking site Twitter to offer their backing for the boss.

Defender Tom Ward (@wardy_5) wrote: “Gutted to see the gaffa getting agro. He’s doing everything right! Players must deliever!!! We arent just letting ourselves down #Bufc”

Winger Joe French (@Frenchbuggie) posted: “Jason Lee is the best manager I have ever had, and I have all the respect in the world for him. We all need to stick together.”

After last night’s match Lee told the media that he will “never walk away” from the job.
