SHAUN Pearson believes that Boston are the team nobody wants to face in the Blue Square Bet North play-offs.

The Pilgrims travel to face Guiseley in their first-leg encounter this evening (KO 7.45pm).

After two stalemates already this campaign, Pearson believes his side now have the edge and the ability to leave Yorkshire after drawing first blood.

After Saturday’s 2-0 win over Vauxhall Motors extended the unbeaten league run to six matches, he told The Standard: “We’re the form team and nobody wants to play us.

“We’re going to Guiseley, but we can’t worry about who we are facing at this stage. Every side left in it is a good side, so we shouldn’t be too fussed about where we go to play.

“We’re in with a good shout and know we’re in good form.” And Pearson – the Pilgrims’ Player of the Year for the second year running – reckons the game will be one for the fans to enjoy.

He added: “The games against them this season and last have been entertaining.

“We can attack and score goals, but so can they.

“However, I’m going to back us and say we’re the best team in the play-offs.”

Guiseley pipped Boston to the UniBond Premier title last season, on the last day of the campaign.

Now Pearson reckons it’s revenge time.

“I suppose we owe them one,” he said.

“I hope we can start by doing that in the first leg - to give us a good advantage.”
