Dennis Greene says he is determined to find a winning formula at Boston United.

Defeat at Leek Town in the FA Cup, coupled with the previous week’s Vanarama North loss against Hednesford, has left the Pilgrims manager going back to the drawing board as he vows to return to winning ways.

“We’ve got to find a formula. I’ve got to work hard this week on changing things,” Greene said.

“The defence has got to stop conceding sloppy goals.

“The midfield, we’ve got to get them pressing higher up the pitch and we need more work rate from the people up front.

“If we improve that then we;’ve got a good chance of winning a football match.”

Boston return to league action against Hyde on Saturday (KO 3pm), but in meantime Greene believes there is plenty of work to do on the training pitches.

“I’ve been really disappointed with the results the last couple of games and I’ll have a long think this week,” he added.

“Maybe it does need freshening up.

“Every game’s a big game when you’ve lost a couple of football matches.

“Before last weekend we hadn’t lost in three, now we’ve lost two back to back.

“Every game’s important. Nobody likes to lose any match.”

Reflecting on the Leek defeat, the manager added: “It’s disappointing, for sure, to be out fo the FA Cup.

“We’re disapponted with our overall performances at the moment, we’ve got to do a lot better.

“Something’s got to change.”
