Dayle Southwell would love to get on the scoresheet against his former club Grimsby Town - to ‘show them what they’re missing’.
The Pilgrims striker is keen to be involved when the Pilgrims host the Mariners in a friendly on Saturday (KO 3pm).
Southwell joined United 12 months ago after struggling to get regular football at Blundell Park, where he had been since his youth-team days.
He made an instant impact, scoring 30 times for the Pilgrims last season.
“I’m a Boston player now, but I did smile when I saw we were paying Grimsby in pre-season,” Southwell said.
“They have been a big part of my football career so far.
“But it would be nice to score against them on Saturday to show them what they’re missing.”
A United XI will complete the club’s pre-season schedule at Worksop Town on Monday (KO 7.45pm).
United also faced Sunderland’s under 21s last night.
