Midfielder Gary Mills is looking forward to the challenge Stockport County will provide on the opening day of the season.
The Pilgrims will kick off the Skrill North campaign on August 17 at Edgeley Park.
And Mills reckons the newly-relegated opposition will show the United what’s expected to be a top club this season.
He said: “They’ll be up there challenging next season.
“They’re a good outfit, so it will be a good place to start.”
Mills is also hoping to shrug off an Achilles injury in time for the curtain opener, as he is desperate to be involved on the day.
He continued: “There’s some good players here.
“But for everyone it’s about trying to get a place in the starting XI and making it your own.”
