LAWRIE Dudfield has answered Boston United’s striker SOS.
The former Leicester City forward has been coaxed out of retirement for a second time by Pilgrims manager Jason Lee, as Boston suffer an injury crissis ahead of tomorrow’s clash against Histon.
After more than a year away from the game, Dudfield was encouraged to put his boots back on last season after Lee and Lee Canoville took over the managers’ roles.
He played an important role, scoring once in six appearances as the Pilgrims reached the Blue Square Bet North play-off semi-finals.
However, he claimed that would be it for his career after that match.
But with Ryan Semple, Mickey Stones, Mikel Suarez and Julian Joachim all injury doubts, the 31-year-old is back to bolster the front line.
Dudfield also had a spell with United in League Two, scoring five times in the 2005-06 season.
