Kaine Felix scored his first Boston United goal as the Pilgrims were held to a 1-1 draw at Tamworth.

The winger celebrated his first start for the club by slamming home a loose ball with 11 minutes to go at the Lamb Ground.

However, it was not to be the winner as the hosts levelled through Katden Jackson at the death.

Dennis Greene made two changes to the side which lost two days earlier.

Felix was handed his first start while Chris Dickinson returned to the team, at the expense of the injured Jamie McGhee and Conor Marshall.

The first half saw both sides push forward, although neither managed to break the deadlock.

For Boston, Dayle Southwell’s fizzing shot from distance whizzed the wrong side of the woodwork, while some vital interceptions were needed to halt the pacy Felix.

For Tamworth, Leon Mettam had two good chances but couldn’t find the target.

The Pilgrims began the second half with intent, Zak Mills’ drive just clearing the Lambs’ bar and Southwell seeing an effort blocked when in a good position.

When Mettam did find the target he couldn’t get the better of United keeper Matt Gledhill.

Meanwhile, Tamworth stopper James Belshaw had to be on his toes to block Scott Garner’s effort from Mills’ long throw and also to hold Niall Doran’s hopeful effort.

With less than 20 minutes to go the Pilgrims were awarded a penalty following Belshaw’s foul on David Fallah.

But the keeper redeemed himself with a fine stop to deny Southwell.

Undeterred, Boston pushed on. But as Danny Meadows connected with Felix’s cross his looping header landed over the Lambs’ bar.

United finally made the breakthrough in the 79th minute, with Felix grabbing his first goal for the Pilgrims.

A brilliantly-worked free kick saw Mills slip in Southwell.

After he was again denied by the Tamworth stopper, Felix was on hand to force home the follow-up.

However, Tamworth levelled with three minutes to go as Jackson found the net after Gledhill couldn’t hold Kevin Thornton’s strike.
