Dylan McEvoy knows he will be a target in the National League North... but he’s happy to get a kick out of life with Boston United.

The on-loan Sunderland youngster reckons that being singled out in this division of hard knocks will only help his Premier League ambitions.

“I’ll get targeted because I’m quite small and slender, but I know that will be the case,” said the 18-year-old left back, whose pace and skill are helping him impress at the Jakemans Stadium.

“It’s different to the academy at Sunderland, but there are similarities here as well.”

McEvoy turned out for Sunderland’s under 21s in their 5-0 pre-season victory against Boston, and becomes the latest Black Cat youngster to cut his teeth in the men’s game with Dennis Greene’s side.

“I knew what to expect (coming to Boston),” added McEvoy.

“I played here in pre-season.

“I knew it was a quality side, one of the better sides in the league.

“My aim is to play for Sunderland. I have to wait my turn and this is part of waiting my turn.”
