STRIKERS Spencer Weir-Daley and Marc Newsham got into the goalscoring groove straight away by bagging a brace apiece in a six-goal friendly win over Sleaford Twon.
The match at Eslaforde Park was the first pre-season fixture for Jason Lee’s Pilgrims and saw Boston try out seven trialists on top of their 15-man squad.
The team got off the mark in bizarre fashion, with Ash Murrell heading into his own goal from 20 yards out.
Former Forest striker Weir-Daley quickly doubled the advantage two minutes later from close range and had made it three before half time with a good finish from 18 yards out.
The 11 changes at the break did nothing to break Boston’s dominance over their United Counties League opposition and Newsham conitnued the scoring with a 4th five minutes into the second half.
The lively Kallum Smith tucked away goal number five on 76 minutes before Newsham wrapped up the scoring with a curled finish following a Ben Milnes through ball.
The line ups:
First half (442): Dan Haystead; Conor Marshall, Kern Miller, Nathan Stainfield, Gareth Jelleyman; Ben Fairclough, Ian Ross, James Reed, Jason Stokes; Mark Jones, Spencer Weir-Daley.
Second half (442): Ricky Drury; Lewis Sturman, Tom Ward, Travis Munn, Jason Field; Joe French, Ben Milnes, Liam Bull, Kallum Smith; Kieren Joseph, Marc Newsham.
