Dennis Greene believes he is close to capturing the signatures of a handful of Boston United transfer targets.

And the Pilgrims manager hopes he can begin unveiling his new players as early as today (Wednesday).

“This could be a shopping week,” exclaimed Greene, who is keeping the identities of his targets close to his chest.

However, he did tell The Standard that he is in discussions with a proven goalscorer and three midfielders.

“I’m talking to two players from our division and two from the National Conference,” Greene said.

“I’m only interested in players who will bring real quality to the group.

“Things are moving on well and hopefully I can start naming names soon, maybe Wednesday.

“Midfield and in the forwards are areas we need to fill, because those are the positions where we have lost players.”

When asked about the forward he is talking to, Greene added: “He has certainly scored goals at this level.

“He’s done the business at a top five club.

“That will get you thinking, but I can’t name names right now because I don’t want to alert other clubs to what we’re doing.”

Greene added that he is still in discussions with last year’s 28-goal leading scorer Ricky Miller, remaining ‘pretty confident’ he will agree to stay at York Street.
