Manager Dennis Greene believes that Boston United’s new under 21s side may help him tap into new talent.
The Pilgrims have quit the Lincolnshire League and will, instead, play friendly matches against other under 21 teams such as Mansfield Town, Grimsby Town, Notts County and Doncaster Rovers.
And Greene is in favour, stating: “Sometimes if I get a CV from a young player who sounds good I can’t take a proper look at him in a match.
“But in this league, because they play on a Wednesday and not at the same time as the first team, I can watch.
“This also gives our under 18s a chance to stay with the club and develop.
“Young players improve at different times.”
