Boston Town launched an extraordinary comeback to draw 4-4 at Holbeach United last night... only to to be eliminated from the Lincolnshire Senior Trophy on penalties.
Dan Barrett’s side trailed 4-0 to the Tigers before goals from Matt Kennedy (two), Jack Wightwick and Craig Mitchell pulled them level in eyebrow-raising fashion.
However, the Tigers kept their cool during spot kicks to progress 4-2.
Wightwick and Barrett scored in the shout-out, but Kennedy’s effort was saved and Courtney Warren missed with his attempt.
Holbeach’s goals came from ex-Poacher Ollie Pinner, Gary King and Jonny Wiggins, who netted twice.
The Tigers made some changes to their side as they were playing their second match in as many days, having beaten Sleaford Town 5-2 on Tuesday.
This county cup clash had to be rearranged from last Wednesday due to injury and illness in the Boston camp.
The result sees Town’s winless streak stretch to nine contests.
However, the stalemate ended their run of four straight defeats.
The Poachers now host Eynesbury Rovers uin UCL Premier action on Saturday (KO 3pm).
