The Taylors Service Garages Boston & District Saturday Football League is officially one of the top eight local leagues in the country.
The Football Association have given the league the Silver Award for its work in raising the standards of behaviour of its players.
“I’m immensely proud that the league has received this award,” said chairman Roger Gell, who was quick to praise the work of the league’s officials and the teams.
“The league has been running since 1898, and to receive this award in the FA’s 150th anniversary year makes it even more special.”
The league was put forward by consideration by the Lincolnshire FA as the county’s top league, earning it the Bronze Award.
An FA panel then judged Boston’s league to be the best in the Midlands, earning it the Silver Award, and a place in the final eight regions nominated for the Gold Award.
The Boston league was commended for it work in promoting respect, including the strong wording on its player registration forms, which have since been replicated by other leagues.
