Boston Town were narrowly beaten by in-form Thurnby Nirvana on Saturday.

The away side left the DWB Stadium with a 1-0 UCL Premier victory, thanks to a goal from Matthew Melbourne.

Poachers keeper James Doughty pulled off a number of good stops, but could do nothing about the 71st-minute winner, slotted home following yet another parry.

“The result wasn’t what we wanted but I can’t say anything bad about the performance,” said manager Lori Borbely.

“The boys showed plenty of spirit and desire.”

On Wednesday the Poachers drew 2-2 at title-chasing Holbeach United.

Ryan Oliver and Alex Beck both found the net for the Boston side.
