Mark Angel is backing his Boston Town side to impress in the UCL Premier this campaign.

The Poachers were beaten 5-1 by Cleethorpes Town in pre-season action on Saturday.

But the new Town boss believes the results will begin to show come Saturday’s curtain-raiser against Oadby Town at the DWB Stadium.

“You can’t read a lot into pre-season results,” Angel told The Standard.

“You try different things and look at new players.

“I’m happy with the squad we’ve got here and I know a lot of our lads are good enough to play at a higher level than this.”

Angel says he is still looking to bolster his squad with a couple more loan signings.

However, he believes the team will be in fine form for Saturday (KO 3pm), followed by Tuesday’s home clash against Harrowby United (KO 7.45pm).

“It is an advantage beginning the season with two home matches,” added Angel (pictured).

“We’re looking to get points on the board early on.”

The Poachers played their final warm-up match against Leverton last night.
