Schedule suits the Poachers

Nathan Collins believes that Boston Town’s busy pre-season schedule will leave his squad at an advantage when the UCL Premier season kicks off.

The Poachers will host a young Grimsby Town squad at the DWB Stadium this evening (Wednesday, KO 7pm).

This will be followed by Saturday’s warm-up match against Lincs League newcomers Wyberton (KO 3pm) and a contest against Skegness United on Monday (KO 7pm).

But, for Collins, having matches coming thick and fast is a good thing.

“Sometimes you can have a player who looks like a world beater in training but it doesn’t happen in a match, or vice versa.

“These friendlies are a good chance for us to have a better look at everyone in the squad.

“We’ve got a squad of 18 or 19 lads right now and they all need games.

“We’ve got new players in and this is a chance for everyone to gel.”

On Saturday Matt Kennedy scored as Town drew 1-1 with Lincoln United.

Entry for the Grimsby and Wyberton games is £3 and under 16s go free when accompanied by a paying adult.
