Captain Tom Baxter was full of praise for new signing Paul Roberts after Boston CC began their season with an eight-wicket victory over South Lincs and Border League newcomers Long Sutton.
Roberts - who recently moved to the Mayflower from Sleaford - scored an undefeated 69 runs and bowled 11 tight overs, before being awarded the Westwood Lakes man of the match award.
“Robbo is a great addition,” Baxter said.
“He has played a lot of cricket at this level and higher and has that winning mentality.
“He will be a great asset on and off the field this year.”
The visitors finished on 154-7 and Boston reached 156-2 with 20 overs to spare.
Grantham and Bourne Seconds both picked up 20 points from their opening matches of the campaign and sit joint-top of the table, just ahead of Belton Park and Boston.
Baxter added: “I think Grantham are definitely the favourites and Bourne were a very good side last year. They will both be up there come September.”
