A PROGRAMME to encourage healthy eating and active lifestyles for children aged between eight and 11 years will begin in Boston next month.
Fit Kids is a free 12-week weight management course and aims to help children lead healthier lives, get fitter and lose weight.
The sessions include healthy eating as well as fun and games.
Sarah Ferneyhough, physical activity manager at Lincolnshire Sports Partnership, said: “Leading a healthy lifestyle is a difficult thing to do; especially when life is already so busy.
“These courses help families to get the right balance; fitting in regular physical activity and eating a healthy diet.”
Over 500 families have taken part in the programme since it began in 2009 and with a better understanding of healthy eating and active lifestyles; the sessions have had a long lasting impact on most of the families.
Sarah said: “The changes we see over 12 weeks are incredible.
“Children gain confidence, get fitter and the whole family is encouraged to lead a healthier lifestyle.”
The Fit Kids programme in Boston will start week commencing January 9, and will take place every Monday and Wednesday at Haven High School, and Tuesday and Thursday at Kirton Middlecott School (4.30-6.30pm).
