BOSTON Seconds had a fruitful trip to Ropsley, posting a total of 182 before bowling out their hosts for just 80.

Century-making Tom Baxter led the way with the batting, support coming from Steve Elleray and Jonathan Cheer, while Max Priestley became

destroyer-in-chief with ball in hand, his five-wicket haul coming at a cost of just 18 runs.

Welby 156-9, Boston 3rds 160-4 – Boston won by six wickets (16 points out of 20).

Boston batting: Mark McDowell 64, Tatu Vehvilainen 24, Martin Gibson 15*, Andy Borrill 10.

THERE was more success for the Mayflower club at Welby, the Thirds taking second knock and coming out on top by six wickets.

Veteran John Elleray led the bowling effort with five wickets before a belligerent 64 from Mark McDowell led his team to victory.

Newark Alliance League

Boston NAL XI 131, Attenborough 132-5 – Attenborough won by five wickets.

MORE away-day action on Sunday saw the Newark Alliance XI slip to defeat despite 36 more runs from Tom Baxter.

Conrad Louth and Tim Bell added support, but they could not set a total the bowlers could defend, Attenborough easing to victory.

Boston XI 119, Burgh 120-7 – Burgh won by three wickets.

Boston batting: Andy Borrill 58.

Boston bowling: James Broughton 4-17, Tatu Vehvilainen 2-13, Scott Elleray 1-22.

'JASPER' Borrill was the top scorer in Boston's friendly at Burgh, hitting 58 runs.

However, the home side reached their target with three wickets to spare, despite the best efforts of the Boston bowlers, the pick of whom was James Broughton with 4-17.
