Jelleyman returns to Boston United and new goalkeeper could be on the way

Wednesday, 9.40am - FORMER Pilgrim Gareth Jelleyman has returned to Boston United as the club struggles through a mini injury crisis.

The talented defender will be enjoying his third spell at the club, following previous stints during in the 1998-99 season when he was just 17 and in 2004.

Jelleyman, 29, put pen-to-paper last Thursday to complete his move to The Jakemans Stadium from Blue Square Bet Premier outfit Barrow.

United's joint manager Rob Scott said: "The signing of Gareth represents a tremendous coup for the club and we are delighted to have added an experienced and talented player at this stage of pre-season."

Experienced goalkeeper Chris Adamson, 31, could also be heading to Boston, having appeared between the posts during Saturday's friendly win against Belper Town.

Scott said: "We know Chris well from Ilkeston. He has a great CV, having played for the likes of Stockport County and Sheffield Wednesday, plus Hereford United as player-goalkeeping coach last season.

"Chris has the knowledge to play at this level. He is a good talker and kicks well and we have always needed to bring in another keeper.

"He is located in Birmingham so it's a big commitment if he signs but it is something he is willing to do because he wants to get back playing football."

If Adamson agrees to move to The Jakemans Stadium he will take United's squad total to 20 senior players and will almost certainly conclude the Pilgrims' pre-season recruitment drive.

Boston United cancelled last night's planned friendly at Loughborough Dynamo due to the number of injuries affecting their squad.

Mikel Suarez was the latest player to succumb to injury, breaking his collarbone in the first minute of the Pilgrim's 3-1 victory away to Belper Town.

Saturday's Lincolnshire Senior Shield semi-final against Gainsborough Trinity at The Northolme will conclude United's pre-season preparations.

Boston United's new home kit will be officially launched at the club's annual Community Day at The Jakeman's Stadium on Sunday.

The day will run from 11am until 3pm and will also feature the club's annual photo shoot. First team players will be on hand to meet and greet supporters and the United Cheer Team will be performing throughout the day.

There will be competitions and activities for children.
