Two Boston kickboxers have been selected for Great Britain squads - after tasting success at the Wako British Championships.

Nesta Baxter and Mark Baldry - members of Evolution Martial Arts - claimed respective first and second places in their age categories in Birmingham.

Nesta, 12, was crowned the WAKO British Champion in the girls under 50kg category.

She fought fantastically well in her semi-final against a hard competitor from London before overcoming another gruelling bout in the final.

Mark (pictured left) took part in the veterans under 94kg category - coming second.

He set the standard after his opponent withdrew following a barrage of kicks and punches in his opening fight.

However, the final was just one step too far.

Nesta and Mark have now been selected for the WAKO team GB squad, enabling then to train at Birmingham and London.

From there, they are hoping to be picked for the teams to fight in the WAKO European Championships in Poland (Nesta) and the world WAKO Championships in Turkey (Mark).

Also in Birmingham, Lee Brockelsby was runner up in the men’s under 84kg.

Ten-year-old Ambie Brockelsby finished fifth in the under 28kg, out of a field of 26 fighters.

Acorn Taxis sponsored the club and drove them to the event in Birmingham.
