Boston Cricket Club’s First XI are hoping to welcome Kieran Evans back into the side ahead of Saturday’s match against Woodhall Spa Seconds.

Evans (pictured) was the club’s leading scorer in the South Lincs and Border League Premier Division last season, although university commitments mean he has not been appearing regularly this campaign.

And with Andy Hewitt and Ricky Drury both unavailable for the Mayflower men this weekend, captain Tom Baxter hopes to have the batsman available.

“It’ll be great to have him back,” he said.

“Over the last two years, he has scored a lot of runs for us and it’s good to have some competition for places within the side.”

Fifth-placed Woodhall go into Saturday’s match at Boston off the back of a mixed start to the season, having seen two victories, two defeats and an abandoned fixture.

“They will be very organised and well drilled by their captain Paul Timby,” Baxter added, praising Boston’s former skipper.

“Paul was great for us a few years back and I know that his side will be as prepared as they can be.”

Boston, meanwhile, top the division following six straight victories.
