All the successful students - Isabel Groves, Parvathy Kurup, Tess Hoyles, Shayla Johnson, Jessica Scuffham, Finlay Bryan and Summer Bryan- were tested by masters under the watchful eye of Grandmaster In Huyk Suh, the founder of the Korean Martial Art.
The final test lasts for three hours and included the whole under-black belt syllabus, including weapons.
This years promotions were a family affair with 4th degree Marian Meggat’s granddaughter Shayla promoted.
Isabel’s husband is a black belt while her young son trains in the advance children’s class.
Summer and Finlay’s younger brother trains and their father is a black belt.
Jessica has become the first person in her family to become a black belt, with her younger brother and mother still colour belts. All new black belts will now assist in colour belt classes, as well as having their own class to train in.
