A Team off to a good opener

TENNIS teams have served up action in the Boston and District Winter League.

In an all-town clash, Boston A earned a 5-3 victory over Boston B.

Boston A team had out Carl Robinson, Calum McCaig, Zak McDonnell-Woods and Jack Morrow.

The Boston B team - under the new captaincy of Andy Clamp - saw Mickey Audus and Geoff Short, Jeremy George-Jones and Courtney George-Jones take to the court.

The A team had the upper hand, with McCaig and Robinson winning all four sets and the McDonnell-Woods and Morrow managing to win one set to tip the balance.

Boston D faced Billinghay.

Chris Cook, Richard Hart, Clive Green and Chris Mepham earned a two-and-a-half to one-and-a-half win.

Boston E were away at Woodhall Spa and had a convincing 4-0 success.

The team comprised Zafar Khan, Michal Chmielik, Richard Cozens and Simon Beardsley.

The Lincolnshire Veterans’ Doubles League also saw action at the weekend.

Boston Tennis Club has five teams in this league – three men’s and two ladies’ teams.

The ladies’ First team, in Division Two, was disappointed to lose out 3-5 to Grimsby Tennis Centre in a home fixture.

The team of Jenny McGarel, Rachel Atkinson, Helen Cook and Linda Barrow tried hard to find a way to even up this match but were repeatedly thwarted in their attempts.
