SARAH Cantwell began her summer season at Kirton Holme Golf Club by hitting a hole in one.

She recorded her feat on the par three 136-yard third hole.

The monthly stableford competition was won by Betty Gedney.

Results: 1 Betty Gedney 34 points, 2 Hazel Smith 32, 3 Jackie Ward 30.

A second stableford was played, and won by Chris Gill .

Results: 1 Chris Gill 34, 2 Pam Toy 33, 3 Tricia Sharpe 32 c/b.

Ladies representing Kirton Holme suffered defeat at Toft in the Daily Mail Foursomes.

Janet Smith was the winner of the year’s first Monthly Medal competition

Results: 1 Janet Smith gross 91, nett 70 (handicap cut), 2 Hazel Smith, 100/73, 3 Gloria Bursnell, 93/75.

The winner of the Sandra Chester Trophy, awarded to the top category five player, was Jane Andrews, with a nett 76.

Ten ladies turned out for the Winter Wanderers event held at Spalding Golf Club.

The ladies played a fourball, betterball, stableford format which was won by Chris Gill and Pam Toy with 35 points.

A nine-hole stableford qualifying competition saw Jenny Newham victorious.

Results: 1 Jenny Newham 16 points, 2 Di Hunter 15, 3 Pirjo Bennett 15.

A friendly fixture was held at Kirton Holme, with the hosts defeating Sutton Bridge 3-1.

Although the new summer season has arrived, Kirton Holme Golf Club is bidding farewell to Chris Gill, who has retired after 19 years working at the club.

However, she hopes to be able to now devote more time to... playing golf.
