Boston ABC’s Angelica Finch tasted victory in Yorkshire at the weekend, claiming the decision against Leah Smith.
Fighting on a show hosted by Bridlington ABC, Finch faced a tough opponent who was older, heavier and had more experience, as well as having the home crowd behind her.
From the opening bell, Smith came to fight, but Finch was equal to the task.
Smith was a stocky opponent and Finch took her apart with her accurate offensive back hand opening up her rivals’ defences.
The second round saw the Boston boxer having success in all areas of the bout, but Smith’s experience was starting to look ordinary as Finch continually found Smith.
The third round edged Finch closer to victory, but neither boxer was giving up easily.
Warm applause greeted the final bell, with Finch given the victory.
Coby Brown had to work hard in his bout at the Copthorne Hotel in Dudley, facing Nick Manton from Priory Park ABC.
Both boxer’s started strongly, each having the fair share of the action.
Brown was boxing behind his long lead and had his opponent offering little reply to his accuracy.
The final round was all action, with strong uppercuts and a right hook which had Manton on the retreat.
But despite Brown’s forceful showing, the judges favoured the home fighter who was granted a unanimous decision, despite some jeers from the audience.
