For the second week in succession, pigeon racing had to be delayed a day because of Saturday’s poor weather.

And even Sunday’s liberation from Whitley Bay could not take place until mist, rain and low clouds had dispersed by the afternoon.

The fastest bird into town was timed by Terry Appleby, winner of the Boston Central club, where Upsall and Frost took the next three positions.

The partnership of John Hardy and John Burt took the first three places in Boston and District FC.
