Boston Golf Club’s Ladies’ Section held their Lady Captain’s away day at Gainsborough Golf Club last week.

What started as an optimistic outlook on the weather forecast soon proved to be quite the opposite and, with constant heavy rain and the putting greens becoming more like lakes, it was decided after nine holes to abandon play with team scores being decided over the opening nine.

Not in the least despondent, the ladies settled in at the halfway house.

The winning team were Jean Markham, Chris Sherriff and Lynn Worthington with 37 stableford points.

In second place with 29 points were Pam Hyde, Chris Needham and Pam Bett.

Third, on a countback, were Ann Hodgson, Ann Gullick and Liz Harris with 26 points.

Nearest pins were won by Chris Needham and Jean Markham.

The Ladies’ League team travelled to Belton Park for the return match and came home with the match being halved 2-2.
