Paul Gurton finished in seventh place in the British Gold Roof Championships... after almost 24 years away from the sport.
The 53-year-old, from Wyberton, was in action at Skegness Stadium on Sunday, after recently deciding to return to racing.
Paul was competing in the MD (Mondeo) Rods Gold Roof championship, after qualifying via four previous meetings.
And he finished the day off by winning the final two heats after coming seventh in the main event.
Paul enjoyed a successful racing career at Boston Stadium, competing in the Unlimited Bangers, before calling it a day at the end of the 1990-91 season.
He was egged on to get back behind the wheel by friends and after attending some racing with son James, he finally decided to give it another go.
Paul has had some early frustrations with getting the car set up and finding his feet once more, but now things appear to be coming together and he is looking towards the Winternationals, the last big meeting for his formula this year, on November 23.
