EIGHT Boston and District Athletic Club runners completed the 2012 London Marathon on Sunday.
Geoff Knight was the first Gold Top to complete the 26-plus-mile event, running the first half of the race in 1hr 16mins 04secs, and crossing the finish line in an impressive 2hrs 39mins 58secs for 174th position.
Second finisher for the Club was Jose Ferriera, claiming 1,628th place in a much-improved personal best time of 3hrs and 5mins 35 secs, ahead of Dennis Rainbow, who recorded 3hrs 11mins 39secs for 2,202nd position.
Only just old enough to compete was Boston Grammar School sixth former Aidan McClure. The 18-year-old did well to complete the race 6,510th in 3hs 41mins 20secs.
Tony Tomlin was rewarded with a 4hrs 32mins 17secs time, crossing the finish line 1,9177th.
Fran Mills, who was one of only two female Gold Tops competing, clocked 5hrs 03mins 40secs for 2,6629th overall.
She was also the 948th finisher in her female age category as she completed her first ever marathon.
Claire Johnson also made her debut over the full marathon distance, finishing in 3,1444th position, alongside father David, who was 31,446th, in a time of 5hr 35mins 19secs.
