EIGHTEEN Boston-based youngsters competed in the Lincolnshire under 13s and under 15s Sportshall Athletics Championships on Saturday... returning with a total of 41 awards.
In the poorly-supported under 15s category, three Boston and District AC representatives produced some good performances in Grantham.
In the girls’ section, Gold Top Frances Nuttell won three titles, the two-lap race (25.1 secs), standing long jump (2.14m) and vertical jump (55cm).
Selena Wells claimed two titles – speed bounce (74) and shot (8.53m) – and Lara Smith added the four-lap title (59.2 secs). Further awards saw Lara come second in speed bounce, standing long jump and vertical jump.
Frances was second in the shot and Selena finished runner-up in both the two and four-lap events.
The under 15 boys’ section saw Rares Demeter win the Lincolnshire speed bounce title (76) and come second in the standing long jump and shot.
Robert Porter chalked up three second places in the two-lap and four-lap races and standing triple jump.
Luke MacLeod received second spot in the speed bounce.
In the under 13 girls’ category, Hermione Wright won second-place awards in standing long jump and vertical jump.
In the under 13 boys’ championships, Freddie Carr earned five awards.
He clinched the Lincolnshire standing long jump title (2.07m), as well as seconds in vertical jump, standing triple jump and the two-lap race. He added a third in the high jump.
Blake Garwell secured a good second place in the six-lap time trial and also finished third in the final of the four-lap race.
Elliah-Jean Pennington was third in the vertical jump and a best putt earned William Parsons third in the shot.
Also representing BADAC were Thomas Vamplew, Abbie Sands, Chloe Mallett, Tom Evans, Matthew Connolly, Finlay Whitaker and Kieran Pickwell.
All 18 have been selected for the Lincolnshire squad practice and final team trials at Grantham on January 29, when the county representatives for the East Midlands Regional Sportshall Championships will be selected.
l TWO Boston and District AC representatives ran over the frozen Wollaton Park surface at Nottingham on Saturday, the venue of the North Midlands Cross-country League.
In the senior men’s race, Ian Scott finished in 173rd position.
At Under 11 level, David Scott was 47th.
