BADAC runners claim cross-country glory

BOSTON and District AC’s under 13 boys have won the Lincolnshire Cross-country League team title... without even entering the final round at Lincoln.

The Boston runners had done enough in the previous three matches in the series.

The BADAC junior, senior, veteran men’s representatives at the Lincoln University Riseholme course produced their best team performance of the series.

Finishing third team on the day with 29 points, Boston moved up from eighth to finish the series in fourth.

Over 9,700m, Jose Ferriera was the first senior home, ahead of Sean North (ninth, sixth veteran), Dennis Rainbow (17th, 11th vet), Ian Scott (39th, 28th vet) and Tony Tomlin (55th).

Emma Penniston claimed the overall under 20 women’s title.

In her final race she came 11th and was third under 20.

Although not fit enough to make the start line for the final under 11 boys’ race, Jack Rushby had done enough in the first three events to claim fourth place.

At Riseholme, teammate William Wright finished the 1,500m race in eighth, ahead of David Scott (14th).

At under 13 level, Hermione Wright completing the 3,000m course in sixth.

Two under 15 BADAC runners contested their respective events over 3,700m, Isobel Rushby coming seventh and Rob Porter 10th.
