Boston and District AC athletes produced some outstanding performances in their opening fixture of the Lincolnshire Track and Field League at Grantham on Saturday.
Alice Flint won the senior women’s 400m hurdles (71.3 secs) and 800m (2 mins 31 secs), adding a third place in the long jump (4.54m).
Other fine performances included under 20 Becky Locking’s fourth place in the 100m (14.2 secs)and under 17 Sophie Reader’s impressive second in the 300m (49.3 secs). She also claimed third place in the javelin (16.34m) and sixth in the long jump (3.91m).
Frances Nuttell won the high jump and produced a very creditable leap of 4.77m in the long jump.
Senior Emma Penson just missed out on a personal best in the 3,000m (16 mins 30.2 secs).
Under 15 Thomas Johnson saw his winter training regime pay off as he claimed second in the long jump (4.45m) and shot (9.08m), followed by third place in the 200m (30.0 secs).
After a very promising cross country season Jack Rushby produced an excellent runner-up spot in the 1,500m (5 mins 06 secs).
In the under 13 age group, Jenson Barkworth achieved a personal best 3.26m in the long jump to take second before clocking 16.6 secs in the 100m to finish third.
Other excellent performances included Mathew Millington’s third place in the 1,500m (5 mins 59 secs) and Alicia Baxter in the 800m (3 mins 29.2 secs), long jump (2.88m) and 100m (19.1 secs).
Under 11 athletes Hallam Bedford and Malena Baxter featured well.
