BADAC youngsters excel at sportshall challenge

The first Lincolnshire Inter-Club Sportshall Athletics League match was dominated by Boston and District AC youngsters.

The event was open to under junior competitors - and representatives from the host club finished first in four of the six age-group team competitions at the B-Hive venue.

The Gold Tops A team won the under 13 boys’ section with a total of 190 points, with the B and C teams sharing runners-up spot on 86 points.

The A team included Blake Garwell, Edward Buckley, Kieran Duncan-Johal and Kieran Pickwell.

Blake won three individual events, Edward two and Kieran Duncan-Johal added a further one.

In the under 15 girls’ category, Frances Nuttell won five of the six individual events - the two-lap race, speed bounce, standing long jump, vertical jump and shot.

Sulaiman Dani was the outstanding contender in the under 15 boys’ age group, winning three events.

The Gold Tops’ under 11 boys’ squad finished with a comfortable team victory, accumulating a total of 379 points from the 12 events on the programme.

William Wright was first in the four-lap race and the balance test and combined with Oliver Staniland to win the 1+1-lap race. Oliver combined with Ryan Wonnacott to secure a comfortable victory in the six-lap paarlauf.

In addition, Oliver was first in speed bounce, vertical jump and chest push, and Ryan also won the hi-stepper, standing long jump and four-lap race, triple jump and javelin.

Alice Parsons made a promising debut in the under 11 girls’ category, winning the balance test and claiming second places in both the speed bounce and hurdles.
