TWO generations of Boston powerlifters have helped England reach their highest-ever position in the World Powerlifting Singles Championships.

Competing at Autun in France, 42-year-old Nikki Elding won gold in the Masters One deadlift category.

She also claimed silver in the bench press.

Meanwhile, her dad Mike Davies, 74, won silver in the deadlift.

He was competing in the Masters Seven category.

Both were competing in the British Drug-free Powerlifting Association-endorsed event.

Representing England, they helped the team overcome the might of Russia to finish in second place, closely behind hosts France.

More than 400 lifters competed in the event.

Nikki, who trains at the Princess Royal Sports Arena, is coached by her husband Chris.

Mike is coached by his wife Maureen.

He trains at the Workhouse Gym.

Mike also refereed at the event.
