Boston Golf Club hosts county betterball contest

Boston Golf Club’s Ladies’ Section played host to the LLCGA County Betterball Central golf competition where 108 ladies representing nine clubs from Lincolnshire played a Fourball Betterball Stableford with 3/4 handicap allowance.

The Edna Whitehouse and Chris Means Salvers (first place) were won by Sue Sykes and Elaine Houlton (Kenwick Park) with a score of 42

In second place with 41 points were Sue Borthwick and Jackie Parker (Market Rasen), while third went to Lincoln’s Rita Broughton and Lesley Collins (39).

Another Lincoln duo of Christine Walker and Jo Burndred (38) were fourth and Pam Hyde (Boston) with partner Jackie Ward (Kirton Holme) came fifth on 36.

A par competition for the Skene Shield ended with Anne Hodgson winning the trophy, pipping Pam Hyde on countback.

The Cowbridge team halved their match at Sleaford.

The Lincolnshire Ladies’ county team have just returned from Leicestershire Golf Club after winning the Midlands North Regional County week for the sixth consecutive year.

They now play for the National title at Belton Park Golf Club on September 14-19.
