A total of 25 teams of four ladies from around Lincolnshire and beyond didn’t let the dismal conditions dampen their spirits as they competed in Boston Golf Club’s Ladies’ Am-Am.

The format was a 3/4 handicap with two scores to count on all holes barring the seventh and 15th holes, where all team members’ scores had to count.

Although the weather was damp and humid, making conditions extremely difficult, two teams stood out.

Blankney’s Birdie Dawson, Cindy Ireland, Julia Sales and Pattie Houlton won with a score of 83.

A score of 81 points saw Boston’s Marita Jordan, Margaret Hardy, Pam Clare and Yvonne Shaffarczyk claim second, whole third place went to Julia West, Judith Flevill, Lynn Brown (Boston) and Yvonne Scarborough (Woodhall).

Blankney’s Elizabeth Mackay, Janet Spencer-Knot, Jules Palmer and Jane Howard were fourth with 75 points and Cheryl Gilliatt, Jane Briggs, Jean Sizer and Linda Marwood, from Kenwick Park, scored 73 points to finish fifth.

The Nearest The Pins awards went to Yvonne Scarborough (second hole), Jean Hoskin (fifth) and Marita Jordan (14th).

Pam Shpherd won the Longest Drive Silver, Anne Freeman claimed the Nearest Line Bronze and Ruth Simpson was Nearest the Pin on the 18th.
