Boston Golf Club ladies finish in third spot

Boston Golf Club’s ladies’ section saw five teams play in continuous rain at Newark’s Ladies Am-Am last Tuesday.

Three teams from Boston picked up prizes.

Chris Sherriff, Barbara Unwin, Marita Jordan and Di Lincoln were third with 78 points while fifth, on a countback, were Jean Markham, Anne Wallhead, Hilary Calvert with Woodhall’s Kate Hall-Jones on 74 points.

In sixth, also with 74 points, were Ruth Simpson, Joan Young, Yvonne Shaffarczyk and Jacquie Short.

On Thursday, Boston were well represented in Boston West’s Am-Am.

A Spalding team took first prize with 84 points.

In second were Kath Yates, Ruth Simpson, Jenny Geeson and Lynn Worthington, losing out on countback.

In fourth were Hilary Calvert, Kate Hall- Jones, Anne Wallhead and Yvonne Shaffarczyk with 81 points.

Ruth Simpson won prizes for nearest the pin silver, nearest pin in two on the 17th hole and the longest drive silver.

The Boston Ladies’ team also recorded a 2-2 draw when they played host to Boston West in a match on the Cowbridge course.
