The Ladies’ Section at Boston Golf Club played host to opponents from Spalding - where they played a mixed handicap of silver and bronze players in a friendly match.

The Spalding side arrived in fine form and gave Boston a fight before the match ended halved.

Teams of three played a ribbon stableford competition.

Coloured ribbons are placed in each of the 18 holes before play, each lady then is allocated a colour and not until on the green is any player aware that one, both or all three have to score.

Nine teams played and the winning combination were Julia West, Ann Hodgson and Chris Needham.

They returned with a score of 61 points, one in front of Pam Hyde, Jean Markham and Yvonne Wright, with 60 points.

Third place, with 54 points, went to Hilary Calvert, Anne Wallhead and Erin Browne.
