BOSTON Golf Club Mens’ B team travelled to renew their annual rivalry with Woodhall Spa in a friendly match.

The match was played over the world-renowned Hotchkin Course but, for once, conditions were quite easy, with plenty of run and the greens, as one would expect at the home of the English Golf Union, in superb condition.

The final outcome was not as B team captain, Steve Hodgson would have wished as Boston went down 4-2.

However, Steve was in buoyant mood as he and partner Gary Willis won for once.

Results: S. Hodgson & G. Willis won 3&2, M. Hyde & E. Markham lost by one hole, D. Ogden & D. Manson lost 5&3, S. Shaw & T. Newton lost 3&2, D. Cartwright & N. Simpson won 4&3, C. Woodcock & N. Ogden lost 5&4.

In the ladies’ section, Rita Knaggs has won the Past Captains Trophy and English Women’s Golf Association Medal Competition with a one under nett score of 71, just edging out Marian Smith by one point.

Leaderboard: 1 Rita Knaggs (20) 71, 2 Marian Smith (28) 72, 3 Janet Read (26) 73, 4 Jennifer Geeson (28) 73, 5 Kathleen A. Yates (29) 73, 6 Jean E. Markham (16) 75, 7 Hilary Calvert (20) 75, 8 Pam Hyde (18) 76, 9 Joan Young (26) 76, 10 Anne Wallhead (19) 76.
