Boston gymnasts shine in summer competition

TJ Gymnastics Academy recently hosted a summer Artistic Friendly Invitational Competition.

The competition attracted more than 200 boys and girls, ranging in age from five to 18 years old.

The Boston-based academy offered other clubs the chance to join them. For the event, TJGA were joined by Spalding Gymnastics Club, Sleaford Gymnastics Club and Apex.

The competition was split into three rounds over the day and into various groups, called Sunshine, Lolly Pop, Daisy, Ice Cream and Sandcastle. The groups were then split further into age categories.

For many of the gymnasts, this was their first chance to experience a competition which gave them the opportunity to perform routines on vault, trampette, beam, tumble track and range, with medals being given for each discipline. The overall highest scores in each group were awarded trophies, medals and gift vouchers for Milano gym wear.

The day was a great success, with many people turning out to support the gymnasts and their clubs.

It was a particularly successful day for the host club, with TJ gymnasts amassing a total of more than 110 medals and Libby Braime winning the overall title at the Ice Cream Level.

Earlier in the summer TJ Gymnastics Academy hosted their annual tumble competition, inviting gymnasts from Gymnasts that Work, Holland and Fenland Gymnastics Club and Woodland Acro Gymnastics Club.

Seventy gymnasts took part, with TJ’s Freya Manning (National 1, 9/10yrs) taking joint first overall in the National level event and TJ’s Jessica Cooper (National 2, 8/9/10yrs) coming in a close second overall.

Megan Ramsey, competing in the Club 9/10 age group, also took an impressive second place place.
