Boston Rowing Club’s Harriet Housam took first place at the National British Rowing Junior Long Distance Trials at the weekend.

The top 120 18-year-old boys and top 40 girls in Britain, as well as a further 40 16-year-old competitors, rowed in either sculling doubles or pairs.

Harriet and her partner Katherine Maitland (Eton Excelsior RC) finished day one in fourth place in 19 mins 27.3 secs.

On Sunday, Harriet doubled with Jess Leyden (Hollingworth Lake) and the pair finished in first place, 14 seconds ahead of their nearest rivals.
